HRH Emir Dr Alhaji Shehu Idris of Zazzau passed on 20th September 2020 at 44 military hospital Kaduna after a brief illness. He was 84 years old having been born in 1936. Zazzau Emirate is sometimes referred to as Zaria Emirate.
The old monarch who was the 18th Emir ascended the throne in 1975 at the age of 36 after the death of his predecessor and has reigned for 45 years. He was also the chairman of Kaduna state Council of Emirs. He leaves behind 4 wives and many children.
He was buried the same day at 5 pm at Zaria.
