HRH Queen/Ayaba Abibat Adeyemi of Oyo, first wife of HM Alaafin Lamidi iii Adeyemi of Oyo, Nigeria celebrates her 82nd birthday today.
Born on 23rd December 1938, she met then Prince in 1950s during her secondary school days. They married in 1956 before he became monarch in 1970 and have been married for 64 years.
She is the mother of five children, two princes and three Princesses. These include the first daughter and first son of the King (Alaafin)
The couple also share the same age. As the first wife, she holds the highest position and carries out many traditional roles in the palace.
