The first female chief in Tsonga history.
HRH Chief (Hosi) Tinyiko Lwandlamuni Philia Nwamitwa II of Valoyi (Nwamitwa) traditional authority of Valoyi clan, South Africa
She changed history as the first female chief challenged the male succession tradition in the courts and won in 2008.
She is the daughter of late Chief (Hosi) Fofoza Nwamitwa who died in 1968 without a male heir. Her uncle succeeded to the chieftancy throne until in 1996-1997 when the tribe decided to restore the throne to the lineage of late chief Fofoza Nwamitwa thus she was named successor.
