Prince mfonrifum Nabil Mbombo Njoya was crowned sultan King of Bamoun kingdom of Bamoun people of Cameroon immediately after his fathers funeral on Friday 7th October 2021. His father late King sultan Ibrahim Mbombo Njoya was the 19th Nfon (King) of Bamoun people since 1992.
Uniquely enough, he was crowned alongside his biological sister. Tradition demands that a Nfon is crowned alongside his sister as his coheir or advisor.
King Sultan mfonrifum Nabil Mbombo Njoya is the first son of the late King to be born when he had ascended the throne. Despite having older brothers, royal tradition demands that the heir be a son born during the reign of his father.
King Sultan Nabil Mbombo Njoya has been serving as civil administrator in the office of the South Region governor. He is now expected to relinquish his job to become traditional ruler. He is also expected to continue the polygamous tradition of marrying many wives like previous kings.
Long reign the king, long live the king of Bamoun kingdom
