Africa’s most colourful monarchy turned up in thousands for the Akwasidae festival

Ashanti people of Ghana attended the Akwasidae festival 2021 led by their monarch HM Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Queen mother Asantehemaa, lady Julia Osei Tutu, paramount chiefs, dignitaries and members of the public

The Akwasidae festival celebrates the ancient kings of Ashanti empire, celebrates the golden stool which is symbol of power of the Ashanti monarchy, linking the Asantehene who is paid homage by the many paramount chiefs

The ceremony held on 12 th December 2021 also saw the unveiling of the commemorative ceremonial gold coins as a pillar of peace.
