The Kingdom of Burundi
Government: Monarchy abolished in 1966 but maintains a royal house.

The Ethiopian Empire
Government: Monarchy abolished in 1974 but maintains a royal house. It was an empire (1270-1974) with other sub monarchies consolidated by Emperor Menelik like the oromo kingdoms, tigray kingdoms, shewa, Aussa sultanate etc. These sub monarchies also maintain royal heads to date.

The Kingdom of Libya
Government: Monarchy abolished in 1969 after King Idris was overthrowned by Muammar Gadaffi but maintains a royal house. Former states of Cyrenaica, Tripolitania and Fezzan were incorporated into libya.

Royal capital : Tripoli and Benghazi alternatively



The Kingdom of Egypt and Sudan
Government: Monarchy abolished in 1953 but maintains a royal house. Sudan which was largely under UK colonial influence was given independence in 1953. Sudan and South Sudan however still have tribal monarchies .

The Kingdom of Tunisia
Government: Monarchy abolished in 1957, maintains a royal house.
Head of State: King (Bey)
Royal House: Husainid dynasty
Royal capital : Tunis
