Tooro Kingdom is a traditional monarchy of the BaTooro people of Uganda that is recognized by the Ugandan government and constitution. The Royal family of Tooro have various crowns and tiaras they use as a symbol of royal power and continuity.
King’s Crowns
Omukama (King) of Tooro Kingdom, Uganda wears crowns as the head of the Tooro Monarchy. The royal crowns have been passed down from royal generation to royal generation, as a symbol of power and continuity. The Kings has three main crowns he wears during various royal ceremonies:
- Blue and Gold Tooro Crown – This crown is made from cloth material, embellished with gold thread, on it is attached a gold royal coat of arms of Tooro Kingdom with fluffy feathers. A royal robe of the same design is worn with it. It was first seen worn by late King George Rukidi III during his years of reign around 1940s, 50s and 60. It was later passed on to his son late King Patrick Mathew Kaboyo Olimi III who wore it in the 1990s after restoration of Uganda Traditional Kingdoms. After his death in 1995, it has been worn by King Oyo Rukidi IV. When he was younger crowned aged 3 in 1995, he wore smaller crowns made for his then size.

- Maroon and Gold Tooro Crown– This crown is made from cloth material, embellished with gold thread, on it is attached a gold royal coat of arms of Tooro Kingdom with fluffy feathers. A royal robe of the same design is worn with it. It has also been passed down from previous kings

- Coronation crowns – On reaching 18 years of age, King Oyo Rukidi IV was officially crowned in a coming of age coronation attended by various kings and queens from Africa on 17 April 2010. He wore two different crown, a blue and gold beaded crown and an animal skin beaded crown for various coronation rituals

Queen Mother Best Kemigisa Tiaras
Queen mother Best Kemigisa is the Queen mother of Tooro Kingdom, Uganda as the mother of King Oyo Rukidi IV. The Queen mother is usually seen adorned in tiaras and headpeieces during royal events and other state occasions like presidential inaurations, visists to other kingdoms etc. The provenance of these Tiaras is unknown but most likely they are private collections or purchases.
Princess Elizabeth Bagaaya Akiiki
Princess Elizabeth Bagaaya Akiiki is Africas most proiminent princess – a princess royal/Batebe, model, lawyer, actress etc. Here she wears her egptian gold crown during a royal event. She famously wore this during her time as ambassador to the USA.
